It’s a league. For the club champions. You can argue the level of football all you want, but it’s still a champions league. The winner of the CONCACAF version gets a birth in the FIFA Club World Cup, same as the UEFA champion. Surely they’ll never really compete, but that’s entirely beside the point.

oh because the south americans have a decent level of football, but north america and central america don’t really, and the caribbean that really bad..tbh i wouldn’t call that a champions league

CONCACAF = Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football

i know, it is more to do with money, talent ect. but thats obvious, i was just pointing out that champions league football can be the difference between a player joining or not, CONCACAF?? is that the south american champions league?

But there is a champions league: the CONCACAF Champions League. Certainly it’s not the same calibre (or even close) to that of the UEFA’s, but it exists and helps develop the game none the less.

You’re likely entirely right that the MLS will never play to the same standards as those of the European leagues, but that has more to do with money, fan base and talent pool more than having a high level tourney.

oh you’re absolutely right, the NASL isn’t the MLS, and the MLS certainly wasn’t ‘born’ of the NASL.

Though the quality of the game in the MLS has been increasing steadily since its inception, and certainly the addition of names and talent such as Beckham only helps promote and further the game. Regardless if he’s washed up by European standards.

he wasn’t kicked out and he smoked and drunk whilst playing at united but… i suppose you can get away with it in your early 20′s but as you get older you carn’t.

the MLS will forever be a league where former great players go for a lot of money. and your national team isn’t up to much anyway

true. What i ment was that NASL isn’t MLS. but never mind. David beckham, and Pelé moved to USA when they diden’t fit in the big teams any more.

Pelé was 35, David Beckham 32
And George Best was 30. But he was kicked out from United and when he moved to USA the Alcohol and smoking had made him to an avarage player.

bundesliga isn’t the 3rd best.. spanish, itailian and english league’s are all better. it will never get as good as europe league because you don’t have a champions league and thats the competition players want to play in.

i like the MLS alot. Following Ljungberg and seattle. They have a funny playsystem in MLS with playoffs and such and i like the salary cap.

but honestly, bundesliga is maybe the 3d best league in the world.

Italy, Spain, England,Turkey, France, Netherland, Russia, Japan, Brazil, Portugal, Scottland and Greece has better teams than MLS.

But i think and hope that mls will get better. And they are getting better every year.

who is george? lol and yes Beckham plays there for the money(he is to old to fit in european teams that would pay his sallary). and when did pelé played in the mls?
